Who makes this
My name is Karl. I'm a photographer in Dublin, trading as klphotography, and I sell on Etsy. Mockup to Video is mine: I built it, I run it, and the email address further down this page reaches me, not a support queue.
Why I built an Etsy listing video maker
Every Etsy seller has heard the advice by now: add a video to your listing, because a shopper scrolling a phone stops for something that moves. Hearing it was never the hard part. Making the video was.
I tried the general video tools. They're built for every kind of video at once, which means every listing video starts with choosing a template, dragging keyframes around a timeline, and then finding out the export doesn't match Etsy's limits. For a print-on-demand shop that's the same fiddly half hour per listing, over and over. I got tired of it, so I built the tool I actually wanted: one that only makes Etsy listing videos, and knows the rules before you press the button.
What being built for Etsy actually changes
- It only does one job. Add up to five mockups, frame where each shot starts and ends, download an MP4. There is no timeline and nothing to learn.
- Etsy's rules are built in. Between 5 and 15 seconds, square or vertical, comfortably under 100 MB, no sound needed. A length meter warns you before a shot gets sped up to fit.
- It works from mockups. If you sell prints, wall art or anything print-on-demand, you have no physical product to film. Your mockups are your footage, and a slow camera move across them is what a filmed product video would have looked like anyway.
- Your artwork never leaves your computer. The video is made inside your own browser, by the video encoder your machine already has. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy of your work sitting on someone's server. That mattered to me as a seller, so it's how the tool is built.
- No watermark, on either plan. Two videos a day are free. Pro is for the days you list in batches.
Where it's going
It's new, and I'm still using it on my own shop every week, which is the quickest way to find what's missing. If something gets in your way, or your shop needs something it doesn't do yet, email me at hello@mockuptovideo.com. I read every one.
